E-mail Print
Mara Interpids CampThe Mara Intrepids camp is strategically located within the confluence of the Mara’s four game viewing areas. Being just a short drive from the great mara river – The annual crossing point of more than a million wildebeest and zebras, this camp offers some of the worlds finest game viewing with large local populations of plains game, elephants, rhinos, buffalos and all the big cats. In 2004, some 75% of the footage for the BBC’s famous Big Cat Diary was shot in the vicinity of the camp. The Mara Intrepids is 298 Kms and a six hour drive from Nairobi while the adjacent Ol Kiombo airstrip enables you a 45 minutes flight from the capital city of Nairobi.

The Mara Intrepids comprises of 30 luxury tents well spread along the riverside to ensure you optimum privacy and tranquillity.
Mara Intrepids Front ViewEach tent is tastefully furnished in the classic style of the grand African safaris, with large four poster beds and handsome reproduction furniture, complimented by the modern en suite bathrooms with tasteful accents and modern amenities.
The tents sit on raised platforms with natural tree canopy shade and sweeping views of the Talek River – A drinking point for the animals.

The Mara Intrepids is divided into four distinct areas, each with its own open dining
areas and tents where private meals and functions can be arranged. Dinner is traditionally served in the main dining makuti thatched area while breakfast and lunch are hosted on a breezy terrace beside the riverfront swimming pool. Beside the main bar is a fully equipped conference room where the Maasai naturalists deliver interesting and educative slide shows on the local culture and wildlife. This area is also used for corporate and team building events.

Ecotourism & community
Mara Intrepids RoomMara Intrepids is one of the most established camps. It is an eco friendly camp and blends well with its surroundings. The Mara intrepids operations and design are closely monitored to ensure a minimal impact on the surrounding environment. The camp also enjoys a very close relationship with the local Maasai community from where is draws most of the staff.
All biodegradable waste is mulched for compost, while water heating is fuelled by briquettes made from used coffee husks while waste water is recycled through its own on-site constructed wetland.
In conjunction with the sister Mara Explorer camp, both assist the local Maasai community through employment of locals and also in construction of primary schools and health facilities within the area.
