Naivasha Sopa Lodge

E-mail Print
The Naivasha Sopa lodge is a beautiful resort and the perfect place to stay while on Safari in Kenya. The Maasai name “Naivasha” is given to the area where the lodge is located, denoting the characteristics of the lake. The Lake Naivasha is a fresh water lake. This area is rich in avian life and also the Flamingos from lake Nakuru often fly in here to quench their thirst. The lodge situated at Lake Naivasha’s southern shoreline in Africa’s Great Rift Valley, this fresh Water Lake measures approximately 177sq Kms in size, and is home to many varieties of flora and fauna.

The history of the area has always been important as it formed the main route of the slave trade from Uganda and the highlands of Kenya, including in 1884, the Scottish explorer Joseph Thompson’s epic journey through Masai land – where he writes in his journals of his time in Naivasha.
The surrounding landscape is host to a variety of game including buffalo, giraffe, the elusive black faced colobus monkey and in the lake itself many hippos can be seen grazing, in the night they come to the lodge grounds

The central location of the lodge within the rift valley circuit make it an ideal stopover while on safaris to and from the Lake Nakuru national park, the western circuit and Masai mara national reserve.
